The Alchesay Falcons will face off against the Holbrook Roadrunners at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Alchesay knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past four games -- so hopefully Holbrook likes a good challenge.
Last Friday, Alchesay came up short against Show Low and fell 72-60. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Tuesday (56), the Falcons still had to take the loss.
01/31/25 @ Show Low | 5 |
12/12/24 vs St. Johns | 8 |
11/21/24 @ Valley | 6 |
01/17/25 vs Snowflake | 4 |
11/30/24 @ San Carlos | 4 |
Alchesay's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Micah Yazzie, who almost dropped a double-double on 19 points and nine boards, and Texas James, who went 8 for 17 on his way to 18 points and five rebounds. That's the most rebounds James has posted since back in December of 2024. Max Antonio was another key player, putting up nine points and five boards.
Meanwhile, Holbrook entered their tilt with Snowflake on Friday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They snuck past the Lobos with a 54-50 win. That's two games straight that the Roadrunners have won by exactly four points.
Holbrook's win came from a few key players Alchesay will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Tyler Tapaha, who went 5 of 11 en route to 14 points along with seven assists and six rebounds. He has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last seven times he's played. Another player making a difference was Chase Salabye, who posted nine points in addition to six boards and four steals.
Holbrook is on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 16 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 19-6 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.6 points per game. As for Alchesay, their defeat dropped their record down to 19-9.
Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as Alchesay and Holbrook are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. Alchesay hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 55.6 points per game. However, it's not like Holbrook struggles in that department as they've been averaging 57.3 points. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run the score up higher.
Alchesay came up short against Holbrook in their previous meeting on Tuesday, falling 60-56. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Tapaha, who dropped a double-double on 27 points and 13 rebounds. Now that Alchesay knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
