Duncanville is 10-0 against the Tigers since January of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Duncanville Panthers and Pantherettes will be playing at home against the Mansfield Tigers at 6:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Duncanville has four straight victories, the Tigers have ten straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
In what's become a running theme this season, Duncanville gave their fans yet another huge victory on Tuesday. They breezed by Waxahachie at home to the tune of 78-40. Given Duncanville's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked first, while the Indians are ranked 185th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Duncanville's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Mariah Clayton, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 12 rebounds. Clayton is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 17 or more in the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Laila Coleman, who scored 19 points along with seven steals.
Meanwhile, Mansfield ended up a good deal behind the Eagles on Friday and lost 48-29.
Duncanville pushed their record up to 26-4 with that victory, which was their 11th straight at home. They've been dominating during the games in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 24.5 points. As for Mansfield, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost 13 of their last 14 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-19 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Duncanville against the Tigers in their previous matchup back in January as the team secured a 74-33 victory. Does Duncanville have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Tigers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
