The Caney Creek Panthers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their third straight defeat. They were dealt a 74-31 loss at the hands of The Woodlands. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Caney Creek in their matchups with the Highlanders: they've now lost four in a row.
Despite the defeat, Caney Creek had strong showings from Yeiry Zamudio, who scored ten points along with five rebounds and two blocks, and Alyssa Manuel, who scored five points along with six rebounds.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead The Woodlands to victory, but perhaps none more so than Bella Moore, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds. Moore hasn't dropped below nine rebounds for four straight games. Aiden Pino was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Caney Creek's defeat was their sixth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 5-22. As for The Woodlands, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 20-13.
Caney Creek will be playing at home against the War Eagles at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. Oak Ridge presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Panthers in Texas (the War Eagles are ranked 369th, while the Panthers are ranked 1220th). As for The Woodlands, they will head out on the road to take on the Wildkats at 5:15 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Willis focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 23 last Friday.
