Basketball Recap: Jackson North Side's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Tuesday

It was fun while it lasted, but Jackson North Side's undefeated season came to an end after nine games on Tuesday. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 71-70 to the Haywood Tomcats. The Indians were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Tomcats earlier this season, when they won 79-67.

Several Indians players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Lincoln Woods, who posted 16 points. Woods' evening made it eight games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Javonte Smith, who put up 16 points.

Haywood got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Antrell Jones out in front who went 8 of 13 on his way to 21 points. Jones is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Lekenndric Watkins, who almost dropped a double-double on 20 points and nine rebounds.

Jackson North Side's loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 9-1. As for Haywood, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 4-7.

Jackson North Side didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 61-21 win against Liberty Tech Magnet on the 20th. As for Haywood, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 62-53 defeat against Jackson South Side on the 20th.
