Grant has gone a perfect 5-0 against Marksville recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Cougars will take on the Tigers at 6:30 p.m. Grant is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.
Grant's last matchup with Jena could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's matchup on Tuesday. The Cougars came up short against the Giants, falling 8-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Cougars have suffered since April 26, 2025.
Meanwhile, Marksville never let their opponents score on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Avoyelles as they made off with a 17-0 victory. That 17-run margin sets a new team best for the Tigers this season.
Katie Lachney made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and one double.
In other batting news, Morgan Brantley was incredible, firing off two home runs, six RBI, and three runs while going 3-for-3. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2025. Another player making a difference was Kaylie Lewis, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs.
Marksville lost a few balls and finished the game with four home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
The win made it two in a row for Marksville and bumps their season record up to 11-10. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.5 runs over those games. As for Grant, their loss dropped their record down to 19-10.
Grant was able to grind out a solid win over Marksville in their previous matchup back in February, winning 5-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cougars since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
