The St. Aloysius Flashes are taking a road trip to challenge the Columbia Academy Cougars at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The last three games St. Aloysius has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
St. Aloysius is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 12-11 win over Silliman Institute. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Flashes considering their two-run performance the game before.

Walt Andrews made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He pitched 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. He has become a key player for St. Aloysius: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 10-11 otherwise.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Pierson Smith, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with five RBI, one run, and one double. What's more, he posted two hits, the most he's had since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Laken Bradley, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base.
St. Aloysius always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .537. They are a perfect 10-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, Columbia Academy waltzed into their matchup on Friday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They never let the Colonels get on the board and left with a 7-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Cougars, who have now won 14 contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Reed Duncan looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits.
On the hitting side, Corban Lawrence was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season. Another player making a difference was Roman Lawrence, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double.
St. Aloysius' win was their tenth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-11. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.7 runs over those games. As for Columbia Academy, their record is now 24-8.
Tuesday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. St. Aloysius has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .460. However, it's not like Columbia Academy struggles in that department as they've averaged .455. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
St. Aloysius might still be hurting after the 11-0 loss they got from Columbia Academy in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Flashes avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
