In what's become a running theme this season, Fort Calhoun gave their fans yet another huge win on Tuesday. They took their contest at home with ease, bagging a 55-19 victory over Nebraska City. The victory was some much needed relief for Fort Calhoun as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
Fort Calhoun got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Raeann Massey out in front who scored 17 points along with seven rebounds and five assists. Ansley Elofson was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Even though Raymond Central has not done well against Louisville recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Raymond Central simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Louisville 62-27 at home. Given Raymond Central's advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 86th, while Louisville is ranked 234th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Fort Calhoun's victory bumped their record up to 13-7. As for Raymond Central, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 12-8 record this season.
Fort Calhoun came up short against Raymond Central in their previous matchup two weeks ago, falling 57-49. Can Fort Calhoun avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
