The Trinity Christian Academy Warriors will head out on the road to face off against the American Heritage Stallions at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Trinity Christian Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matchups -- so hopefully American Heritage likes a good challenge.
Trinity Christian Academy pushed their score all the way to 63 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 72-63 to Cardinal Newman.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Jaden Lopez, who scored 19 points along with 5 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Xander Eason, who scored 16 points along with 5 assists and 5 rebounds.
Meanwhile, American Heritage had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 32 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They secured a 60-55 W over West Boca Raton. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
American Heritage can attribute much of their success to Xander Gerard, who scored 17 points along with 4 steals, and Brendan Gerard, who scored 22 points along with 5 rebounds and 4 steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Gerard has scored at least 25% of American Heritage's points. Louis Corsa was another key contributor, scoring 4 points along with 11 rebounds.
Their wins bumped Trinity Christian Academy to 2-1 and Cardinal Newman to 6-1.
This contest is shaping up to be a blowout: Trinity Christian Academy hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having only averaged 67 points per game. It's a different story for American Heritage, though, as they've been averaging only 72.7 per game. The only thing between Trinity Christian Academy and another offensive beatdown is American Heritage. Will they be able to keep them contained? Trinity Christian Academy beat American Heritage 59-49 when the teams last played back in December of 2022. The rematch might be a little tougher for Trinity Christian Academy since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
