De La Salle is 0-10 against Saint Ignatius College Prep since April of 2019 but things could change on Thursday. The Meteors will head out to square off against the Wolfpack at 4:30 p.m. De La Salle's pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so Saint Ignatius College Prep's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
De La Salle let Hinsdale South stack five runs on them in the sixth inning on Tuesday but luckily De La Salle prevailed anyway. The Meteors walked away with a 9-6 win over the Hornets.
Kayla Kamradt and Brianna Gonzalez-Grimaldo did most of the damage at the plate: Kamradt got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI, while Gonzalez-Grimaldo got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. That's the most runs Kamradt has posted since back in April of 2024. Samara Agredano was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
De La Salle was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .393. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hinsdale South only posted a batting average of .222.
Meanwhile, Saint Ignatius College Prep was able to grind out a solid victory over IC Catholic Prep on Wednesday, taking the game 7-2.
Zoe Smith was a major factor no matter where she played. She tossed seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
In other batting news, Eliana Romero was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Katie McClain, who went 2-for-3 with two runs.
De La Salle is on a roll lately: they've won 16 of their last 20 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Saint Ignatius College Prep, their record is now 11-14.
De La Salle couldn't quite finish off Saint Ignatius College Prep in their previous matchup back in April and fell 12-10. Can the Meteors avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
