The Craigmont Chiefs lost against the Overton Wolverines back in December of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Craigmont suffered a tough 48-27 loss at the hands of Overton. While losing is never fun, Craigmont can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 250th, while Overton is ranked 86th).
Overton found their leader in underclassman Kierra Baldwin, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and 10 steals. The matchup was Baldwin's third in a row with at least ten points. Nia Smith was another key contributor, scoring 8 points along with 11 rebounds and 3 steals.
Craigmont's defeat dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Overton, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 5-1.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Craigmont will take on Power Center Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Overton, they will be playing at home against Kirby at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Kirby is coming into the contest on a five-game losing streak.
