Even though the Newman AA Cardinals scored an imposing 69 points on Sunday, Putnam Vo-Tech/Sci-Tech still came out on top. Putnam Vo-Tech/Sci-Tech took down Newman AA 85-69. For Putnam Vo-Tech/Sci-Tech, this counts as revenge for the 78-62 loss Newman AA walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2023.
Several Cardinals players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Tommy McKiernan, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Quinn Costello, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 11 rebounds.
Putnam Vo-Tech/Sci-Tech's victory bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Newman AA, their loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 14-3.
Putnam Vo-Tech/Sci-Tech will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Newman AA on February 17th. As for Newman AA, they will head out on the road to face off against Varsity Opponent at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Newman AA knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past 17 matchups -- so hopefully Varsity Opponent likes a good challenge.
