Green Valley has enjoyed the comforts of home their last three games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will take on The Basic Wolves at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Nevada (Green Valley is ranked 16th, while Basic is ranked 12th).
It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Green Valley ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They won a match that couldn't have been any closer, slipping by Sierra Vista 40-39. This was one game where the offenses had no trouble playing at a high level.
Green Valley's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jack Thow, who threw for 176 yards and four touchdowns. Theo Edquilang was in the mix too, providing Green Valley with two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Basic entered their tilt with Foothill with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. Basic strolled past Foothill with points to spare two weeks ago, taking the game 49-32. This was one game where the offenses had no trouble playing at a high level.
Anthony Vega went supernova for Basic, throwing for 288 yards and three touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes, and also punching in three touchdowns on the ground. Zuri Whiters also helped out as he racked up 105 receiving yards.
Their wins bumped Green Valley to 4-6 and Basic to 7-2.
Green Valley couldn't quite finish off Basic in their previous matchup back in October and fell 19-17. Can Green Valley avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
