Johnson were able to grind out a solid victory over Groves, winning 25-14. Groves can consider this payback for the 24-28 loss they dealt Johnson the last time the teams encountered one another.
The win bumped Johnson's record up to 1-2. Groves are still searching for that first win as they fell to 0-3.
Both teams are staying within the conference for their upcoming matches. Johnson will be defending their home turf for the first time next week when they go up against Jenkins at Garden City Stadium at 7:30 PM. As for Groves, they will face off against Benedictine.
