Willow Spring not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 4, 2024. Everything went their way against Southeast Raleigh as Willow Spring made off with a 12-1 win.
Chadburn Turner looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.
At the plate, Joshua Anderson II was a standout: he went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Jackson Sherrell, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.
Willow Spring hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in three consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, it may have taken ten innings to finish the job, but Apex ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Cary, sneaking past 4-2. The victory continues a trend for the Cougars in their matchups with the Imps: they've now won six in a row.
DANE PURDY looked comfortable as he tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Apex is undefeated when PURDY allowsone or fewer earned runs, but 2-3 otherwise.
On the hitting side, ADRIAN GONZALEZ was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances.
Apex's record now sits at 5-3. As for Willow Spring, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Willow Spring has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Apex struggles in that department as they've been averaging 9.1 strikeouts.
