The St. Vincent de Paul Mustangs will head out to take on the Ukiah Wildcats at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. St. Vincent de Paul is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.2 runs per game this season.
On Friday, St. Vincent de Paul came up short against Piner and fell 9-4. The defeat continues a trend for the Mustangs in their meetings with the Prospectors: they've now lost six in a row.
St. Vincent de Paul saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Makayla Bignardi, who went 3-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Maddy Rynning was another, going 1-for-3 with two runs.
Meanwhile, Ukiah waltzed into their match on Tuesday with five straight wins... but they left with six. Everything went their way against the Panthers as they made off with a 17-3 victory. The Wildcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight contests by eight runs or more this season.
Karis Jacobsen was a major factor no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single hit and allowed only one earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2024. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.
In other batting news, Ukiah got a massive performance out of Kaloni Brown, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Aliyah Rosario, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles.
Ukiah's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-7-1. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.2 runs over those games. As for St. Vincent de Paul, they now have a losing record of 6-7.
St. Vincent de Paul came up short against Ukiah in their previous meeting on Wednesday, falling 8-5. Can the Mustangs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
