Mitchell is a perfect 4-0 against Weeki Wachee since March of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Mustangs will host the Hornets at 7:30 p.m. Mitchell's pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so Weeki Wachee's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
On Thursday, Mitchell beat Clearwater Central Catholic 8-3. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Mustangs.
Mitchell got a great performance from Andrew LaMacchia as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over six innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts LaMacchia has posted since back in February.

On the hitting side, Jonathon Rodriquez was a standout: he went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacob Aponte, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.
Mitchell kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Weeki Wachee was able to grind out a solid victory over Lecanto on Wednesday, taking the game 6-1. The Hornets have beaten the Panthers the last four times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Panthers has come to flipping the script.
Aaron Bingnear spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on five hits and racked up seven Ks. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Weeki Wachee is 5-2 when he allows at most one earned run, but 3-5 otherwise.
At the plate, Weeki Wachee got a massive performance out of Derek Giordano, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one triple, and one run. The Hornets are undefeated when Giordano posts two or more stolen bases, but 4-7 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Niko DiBenedetto, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.
Weeki Wachee now has a winning record of 8-7. As for Mitchell, they now have a winning record of 9-8.
Everything went Mitchell's way against Weeki Wachee in their previous matchup last Wednesday, as Mitchell made off with a 17-2 win. Will the Mustangs repeat their success, or do the Hornets have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
