Tuscarora has gone 9-1 against Broad Run recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Huskies will be playing at home against the Spartans at 6:30 p.m. Tuscarora will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each match than the last.
Tuscarora is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Rock Ridge on Thursday as they made off with a 12-2 victory. The Huskies haven't had any issues with the Phoenix recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive win against them.
Anna Hurst made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, two doubles, and two RBI.
In other pitching news, Lily Walker looked comfortable as she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.
Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Chloe Wools, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI, two doubles, and one triple. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season. Another player making a difference was Brileigh Bass, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.
Tuscarora kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 4.8 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 contests they've averaged 10.6.
Meanwhile, Broad Run fell victim to Briar Woods and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They fell just short of the Falcons by a score of 1-0. The Spartans haven't had much luck with the Falcons recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.
Anna Weltens spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on two hits and racked up nine Ks.
The victory got Tuscarora back to even at 5-5. As for Broad Run, they now have a losing record of 8-9.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Tuscarora has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.4 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Broad Run struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8.3 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Tuscarora couldn't quite get it done against Broad Run when the teams last played back in May of 2024 as they fell 5-1. Can the Huskies avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
