LAKE OSWEGO, Ore. -
Sheldon (Eugene, Ore.) captured the lead in the fourth quarter and held on for a 13-6 victory over
Lake Oswego (Ore.) on Saturday. The Irish captured the lead for good when
Taylor Alie ran for a touchdown.
The Irish led 3-0 at halftime, but the Lakers recaptured the lead on a
Jack Anderson touchdown run with 3:00 to go in the third. Sheldon grabbed hold of the lead when Alie ran for a touchdown with 11:00 to go in the fourth quarter, and never relinquished it.
By the end of the third, SHS found itself trailing by 3 points as Lake Oswego captured the lead thanks to one score in the quarter. LO scored on a Anderson touchdown run in the quarter.
The loss snapped the Lakers' 13-game winning streak.
The Eugene school's standout player in the win was
Nathan Starnes. The junior wide receiver kicked two field goals and one extra point.
Anderson played well for Lake Oswego. The senior running back ran for one touchdown. He has now scored seven touchdowns on the season.
LO's lone touchdown came on a 2-yard run by Anderson in the third quarter.
The Irish came into the game allowing 13.9 points per game. The Lakers' six points were well below their season average of 40.7 per game.
The victory is a complete turnaround from last season's game between these two teams, which Lake Oswego took, 47-14.
The loss comes after Lake Oswego defeated Tigard 42-21 last week.
