In what's become a running theme this season, the Athenian Owls gave their fans yet another huge win on Thursday. They were the clear victor by a 61-41 margin over College Prep. Given Athenian's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 319th, while College Prep is ranked 704th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Evan Lucas was his usual excellent self, scoring 20 points. Teni Salako was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Athenian is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 21-6 record this season. As for College Prep, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 12-10.
Athenian will head out on the road to square off against Head-Royce at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. College Prep does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
