Palisade's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Branson Springer, who rushed for 60 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Springer is also on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in each of the last three games he's played. Jasiah Chavez helped out on the ground, rushing for 89 yards.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Palisade was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 348 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 159 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.
Another reason for the win was Palisade's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Cade Carter, Tristan Brinton, and Michael Kemmis, who each picked up one sack apiece.
Meanwhile, Glenwood Springs earned a 30-21 victory over Steamboat Springs on Friday.
Glenwood Springs' win came from a few key players Palisade will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Zack Bollock, who rushed for 85 yards and two TDs on only ten carries. That's the most rushing yards he has posted since back in November of 2024.
Glenwood Springs now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Palisade, their record now sits at 7-2.
Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground. Palisade has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 300.8 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Glenwood Springs struggles in that department as they've been averaging 190.6 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Everything went Palisade's way against Glenwood Springs when the teams last played back in November of 2024, as Palisade made off with a 35-14 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bulldogs since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
