Meanwhile, Lakeland Regional had to start their season on the road on Thursday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They took a 53-48 hit to the loss column at the hands of Indian Hills. Lakeland Regional has struggled against Indian Hills recently, as their match on Thursday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the defeat, Lakeland Regional had strong showings from Noah Pagan, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 15 rebounds, and Tyler Lynn, who scored 15 points.
NV - Demarest's win was their third straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 1-0. As for Lakeland Regional, their loss dropped their record down to 0-1.
NV - Demarest beat Lakeland Regional 51-42 in their previous meeting back in December of 2022. The rematch might be a little tougher for NV - Demarest since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
