Ty Keeling made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off three hits. Those eight strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Drake Lehmkuhl, who went 2-for-4 with four runs, one triple, and one RBI. He continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Brody Sanders was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-2.
Gleason always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .629. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, West Carroll came up short against Clarksburg on Tuesday and fell 15-11.
Drake O'Bryan and Caleb Vermillion did some serious damage despite the final result: O'Bryan scored two runs while going 3-for-5, while Vermillion got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three RBI and one stolen base. Those RBI were Vermillion's first of the season. Another player making a difference was Cole McMinn, who scored two runs while going 1-for-4.
Gleason's victory bumped their record up to 2-5-1. As for West Carroll, their loss dropped their record down to 1-6.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Gleason has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.2 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like West Carroll struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
