Faizol Bouchard kicked a field goal with 6:00 remaining in the fourth quarter and held on to upset
Fort Osage (Independence, Mo.) 31-28 on Saturday. The score was the final lead change in a back-and-forth contest that featured two lead swaps.
The Falcons led 21-7 at halftime, but the Indians recaptured the lead on a touchdown with 3:00 to go in the third.
The loss came as a surprise for Fort Osage, which entered the game ranked No. seven in the MaxPreps Freeman Rankings for Missouri, while Staley was ranked No. 34. FO came into the game having won zero of the past three games between the two teams.
The Independence school's
Steven McBee played well. The senior quarterback threw two touchdowns and ran for one touchdown. He has now scored seven touchdowns on the season.
SHS's most effective player was
Trent Hosick. The senior quarterback threw one touchdown and ran for two touchdowns. He has now scored 11 touchdowns on the season.
The Indians came in giving up 3.4 points per game this season. Fort Osage struggled against the Kansas City school's offense, which entered the game scoring 37.0 points per game.
The Falcons also won the meeting between the two teams last season, 7-6.
The loss comes after Fort Osage defeated Raytown 48-0 last week.
Fort Osage (5-1) goes up against Chrisman in a Suburban - White game matchup next week, while Staley (4-2) locks horns with Kearney in a non-conference game.
