This season hasn't been kind to the Central Bears, who are still winless after their 18th contest. Their rough 47-23 defeat to Crystal River on Tuesday might stick with them for a while. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat Central has suffered since December 19, 2023.
Despite the loss, Central still got an impressive performance from Delanee Duncan, who scored eight points along with six rebounds and two blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Elena Sanchez, who scored seven points along with five rebounds.
Central's loss was their 21st straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 0-18. As for Crystal River, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-9.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Central on the road again on Wednesday and play against Cypress Creek at 7:00 p.m. on January 24th. As for Crystal River, Crystal River and Gulf will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 26th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
