Riverside is 1-8 against Miami East since April of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Pirates will be playing in front of their home fans against the Vikings at 5:00 p.m. Riverside is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.3 runs per game this season.
Riverside took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-2 win over Milton-Union. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Pirates have posted since March 30th.
Keira Manahan spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on five hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Molly Carman, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and one double. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Emilee Robinson, who got on base in two of her three plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.
Riverside hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in seven consecutive games.
Miami East couldn't beat Troy on Saturday even though they stacked four runs on them in the fourth inning. The Vikings fell just short of the Trojans by a score of 5-4.
Miami East also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Kylie Gentis gave up just two earned (and three unearned) runs on eight hits. Gentis has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances.
Miami East's defeat dropped their record down to 8-4. As for Riverside, they now have a winning record of 8-7.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Tuesday. Riverside hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.7 home runs per game. However, it's not like Miami East struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.6 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Riverside suffered a grim 9-3 defeat to Miami East in their previous matchup back in May of 2025. Can the Pirates avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
