HOBART, Ind. -
River Forest (Hobart, Ind.) snapped the seven-game winning streak of
Whiting (Ind.), with a 30-20 victory on Saturday.
After taking the lead on a touchdown pass by
Stuart Glascow to
Petruf Martin, the Oilers went into halftime with a 20-18 lead. The Ingots scored the winning points with a passing touchdown that came in the third quarter.
The result came as a big surprise as Whiting came in ranked No. 149 in the MaxPreps Freeman Rankings for Indiana, while River Forest was ranked No. 254.
The victory is a complete turnaround from last season's game between these two teams, which WHS took, 39-0.
The win was a nice bounce back for RF, which lost to Hammond Bishop Noll last week, 13-6. The defeat comes as a step back for Whiting, who notched a 41-22 victory over Calumet in its previous outing. The victory ended River Forest's two-game losing streak.
River Forest (5-3) goes up against Whiting in a Greater South Shore game matchup next week, while Whiting (7-1) locks horns with River Forest also in a Greater South Shore game.
