While losing is never fun, Newport - Bellevue can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Washington basketball rankings (they are ranked 290th, while the Jaguars are ranked 103rd).
When it comes to explaining why Newport - Bellevue lost, one person who can't be blamed is Brayden Lee. Despite the final result, he scored 13 points. Jace Rainey was another key contributor, almost dropping a double-double on 17 points and nine rebounds.
Even though they lost, Newport - Bellevue were working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Newport - Bellevue's loss was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 3-19. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.5 points per game. As for North Creek, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-8 record this season.
Newport - Bellevue does not have any more games scheduled as of now. North Creek won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against the Eagles at 1:00 p.m. on February 3rd. Issaquah has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 313 points over their last five matches.
