The North Judson-San Pierre Bluejays will face off against the Whiting Oilers at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (North Judson-San Pierre has three straight victories, Whiting has 13 straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when North Judson-San Pierre and North White meet (four straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Friday. The Bluejays were the clear victors by a 17-5 margin over the Vikings. Considering the Bluejays have won seven contests by more than nine runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Trey McGowen made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out nine batters over 3.2 innings while giving up three earned runs but no hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2024. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with four runs, one stolen base, and one double. North Judson-San Pierre is 7-1 when McGowen posts two or more runs, but 4-8 otherwise.
In other batting news, North Judson-San Pierre got a massive performance out of Ayson Harper, who went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, four runs, and four RBI. Harper has become a key player for the Bluejays: the team is 8-2 when he posts at least two runs, but 3-7 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Brock Benson, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with five RBI, one stolen base, and one run.
North Judson-San Pierre kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in three consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Whiting came up short against Hammond Morton on Thursday, falling 17-4.
Jaiden Nunez made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. Another player making a difference was Noah Cruz, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.
North Judson-San Pierre's win bumped their record up to 11-9. As for Whiting, their loss dropped their record down to 1-15.
Whiting's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: North Judson-San Pierre has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .472. It's a different story for Whiting, though, as they've only averaged .302. Will they be able to contain North Judson-San Pierre's hitters?
North Judson-San Pierre took their victory against Whiting in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 16-5 score. Will the Bluejays repeat their success, or do the Oilers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
