The Poquoson Islanders's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their seventh straight defeat. They fell just short of Nandua by a score of 53-50. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Poquoson in their matchups with the Warriors: they've now lost three in a row.
Despite the defeat, Poquoson had strong showings from Jayson Kell, who scored 16 points, and Khaleo Smith, who scored 16 points. It was the first time this season that Kell scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Dayne Galacgac, who scored seven points.
Nandua's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Makai Dorn, who scored 15 points. Dorn is trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for four games straight. Nazere Blake was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Poquoson's defeat dropped their record down to 1-14. As for Nandua, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-7.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Poquoson will take on the Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Warhill is coming into the game on a six-game losing streak. As for Nandua, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against the Firebirds at 6:30 p.m. on January 30th. Arcadia has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 707 points over their last ten matchups.
