Dallas is a perfect 10-0 against Crescent Valley since April of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Dragons will challenge the Raiders at 5:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Dallas has nine straight wins, Crescent Valley has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
On Friday, Dallas made easy work of West Albany and carried off a 10-3 victory. The Dragons might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten matches by six runs or more this season.
Mahayla Benoit spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on six hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Maeve Woolsey was a standout: she got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run and two runs. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season. Harlow Nelson was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three runs and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Crescent Valley lost 14-7 to Silverton on Friday.
Ashley Howitt was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Abby Kessler, who went 1-for-3 with two runs.
Dallas' win was their ninth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-6. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.7 runs over those games. As for Crescent Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 6-15.
Crescent Valley's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Monday. Dallas has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Crescent Valley, though, as they've been averaging only 2.7 strikeouts. Will Dallas keep running through batters, or will the Raiders buck the trend?
Everything went Dallas' way against Crescent Valley when the teams last played back in April, as Dallas made off with a 12-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Dragons since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
