Baseball Recap: Make It Five in a Row for Platt

Platt barely beat Conard the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Panthers blew past the Red Wolves 12-1 on Monday. Considering the Panthers have won seven matchups by more than six runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Giovanni DeMatteo made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed five innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. DeMatteo was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jayden Gaither, who went 1-for-3 with three runs, two RBI, and one double. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024. Dylan Link was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

The victory (which was Platt's fifth in a row) raised their record to 7-1. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Conard, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Platt will square off against Hall at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Conard, they will face off against Plainville at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Blue Devils' pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so the Red Wolves' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
