The Hampton Hawks had to endure a nine-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They secured a 53-47 W over Giltner on Friday. Hampton's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Gavin Gilmore continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, almost dropping a triple-double on 24 points, 15 rebounds, and nine steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Nevaeh Lukassen, who scored 15 points along with six rebounds and four blocks.
Several Hornets players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Tracy Wiles, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Avery Reeson, who scored 11 points along with five assists and four steals.
Giltner struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Hampton pulled down 13 offensive rebounds.
Hampton's win ended a six-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-17. As for Giltner, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost ten of their last 11 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-15 record this season.
Hampton does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Giltner will be staying on the road on Monday to face off against Harvard at 6:00 p.m. on February 12th. Giltner is facing Harvard at the right time seeing as Harvard is stuck on a 19-game losing streak.
