Encinal is 4-0 against Washington since August of 2017, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Encinal Jets will head out on the road to face off against the Washington Huskies at 7:00 p.m. Encinal is hoping to put an end to a seven-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.
Encinal fell victim to Irvington's stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They were the victim of a rough 21-0 defeat at the hands of the Vikings. The last quarter was a mere formality, since the game's final score was reached by the end of the third quarter.
Meanwhile, after only ten points in their last game, Washington made sure to put some points up on the board against Mt. Eden on Saturday. Washington blew past Mt. Eden 62-7 at home. The result was nothing new for Washington, who have now won three matchups by 23 points or more so far this season.
Washington found their leader in underclassman Cameron Redd, who rushed for 256 yards and five touchdowns on only 14 carries. Redd was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 52 yards. Esean Johnson was another key contributor, rushing for 136 yards and two touchdowns on only eight carries.
Irvington's victory bumped their season record to 5-3 while Encinal's loss dropped theirs to 1-7.
Everything came up roses for Encinal against Washington in their previous matchup back in October of 2021 as the squad secured a 53-13 win. Does Encinal have another victory up their sleeve, or will Washington turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
