Softball Recap: Nitro Has No Trouble Against St. Joseph Central

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Greenbrier East, Nitro was happy to have turned things around on Wednesday. They blew past the St. Joseph Central Irish 12-2. The Wildcats haven't had any issues with the Irish recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

McKenzie Hyatt made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched. Hyatt was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Zoe Hyatt was incredible, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 3-for-4. Lyndi Campbell was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

Nitro kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are 2-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

Nitro's record now sits at 4-12. As for St. Joseph Central, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-7 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Nitro will challenge Oak Hill at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Red Devils will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last. As for St. Joseph Central, they will take on Van at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
