Buffalo hasn't had much luck against Fairfield recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Bison are taking a road trip to face off against the Eagles at 6:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Buffalo's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 25-0 margin over Mexia. The win continues a trend for the Bison in their matchups with the Black Cats: they've now won eight in a row.
Buffalo got a massive performance out of Harper Stone, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Zoe Cheek was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Buffalo was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .652. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .348 or higher in six consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Fairfield made easy work of Mexia on Tuesday and carried off a 24-0 victory.
Haylee Allen made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 12 consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, firing off two home runs, eight RBI, and three runs while going 3-for-3. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Payton Mims was excellent, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with four stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Hadlie Morrison, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Buffalo's record now sits at 11-14. As for Fairfield, their record is now 14-6-1.
Tuesday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Buffalo hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .425. However, it's not like Fairfield struggles in that department as they've averaged .346. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Buffalo couldn't quite get it done against Fairfield in their previous meeting back in March as they fell 4-0. Can the Bison avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
