There's no place like home for the Timpview Thunderbirds, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Tuesday. They strolled past Springville with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 54-38. Given Timpview's advantage in MaxPreps' Utah basketball rankings (they are ranked 13th, while Springville is ranked 75th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Timpview's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Aiaiaga Galea'i, who scored 19 points along with five rebounds and two blocks. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Galea'i has scored all season. Leah Atuaia was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with seven rebounds and two blocks.
Springville lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Brynn Johnson, who scored 12 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Bella Esplin, who scored 13 points.
Timpview has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 14 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season. As for Springville, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 4-15.
Timpview will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Salem Hills at 5:15 p.m. Timpview is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 50.7 points per game this season. As for Springville, they will head out on the road to challenge Spanish Fork at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Springville is facing Spanish Fork at the right time seeing as Spanish Fork is stuck on a six-game losing streak.
