Mountain Vista is 7-2 against Rock Canyon since October of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Golden Eagles are taking a road trip to take on the Jaguars at 7:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Mountain Vista has eight straight victories, Rock Canyon has five straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
On Thursday, Mountain Vista was fully in charge, breezing past Fruita Monument 62-7. Considering the Golden Eagles have won six contests by more than 19 points this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

It was another big night for Marquise Reese, who threw for 296 yards and five TDs while completing 87.5% of his passes. What's more, he racked up 166.7 passer rating, the most he's had since back in August of 2024. Brody Callister helped Reese out on the ground, rushing for 90 yards and one touchdown on only seven carries.
Mountain Vista didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Fruita Monument to a completion percentage of just 37.5%. That dominant aerial defense primarily came from four players: Lucas Conklin, Hudson Modrzewski, Halden Robinson, and Taj Alexis, who each logged one passes deflected. Mountain Vista has been improving in that area: they had allowed a completion percentage of 0.63 earlier this season, but they've only allowed one of 0.63 in their last three games.
Mountain Vista didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off four passes before the game was over. Conklin led the group effort, picking up two of those interceptions all by himself. He has been hot recently, having also posted six or more total tackles the last three times he's played. He got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Rock Canyon fought the good fight in their overtime game against Castle View on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Sabercats by a score of 20-17. The Jaguars were up 17-0 in the third quarter but couldn't hold on to the lead.
Rock Canyon's loss dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Mountain Vista, their win bumped their record up to 8-0.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's matchup: Mountain Vista has been excellent in the air this season, having averaged 275.6 passing yards per game. It's a different story for Rock Canyon, though, as they've been averaging an even more impressive 132.9 passing yards. How will they fare against such a dominant passing game?
Everything came up roses for Mountain Vista against Rock Canyon in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 70-10 victory. In that contest, the Golden Eagles amassed a halftime lead of 42-10, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
