After a string of three wins, the Grace Christian Crusaders's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. The game between Grace Christian and The Burlington School wasn't particularly close, with Grace Christian falling 79-61. While losing is never fun, Grace Christian can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 279th, while The Burlington School is ranked fifth).
Grace Christian's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Matt Foster, who scored 17 points. Those 17 points set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Nate Jones, who scored 19 points.
The Burlington School got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Zion Walker out in front who scored 21 points along with three steals. The match was Walker's 14th in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordan Durham, who scored 18 points along with eight rebounds and six assists.
Grace Christian's loss dropped their record down to 5-7. As for The Burlington School, their victory was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-3.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Grace Christian will face off against Freedom Christian Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Freedom Christian Academy's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season. As for The Burlington School, they will head out on the road to face off against Central Cabarrus at 8:30 p.m. on Friday. Central Cabarrus is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 89.6 points per game.
