Football Recap: Lone Oak Skates Past Winona with Ease + How To Watch

A well-balanced attack led Lone Oak over Winona in every quarter on their way to victory on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Buffaloes blew the Wildcats out of the water with a 47-6 final score. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 29-6.

Lone Oak's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Colt Bowman, who rushed for 62 yards and one score. Another rusher making a difference was Alex McCallum, who rushed for 70 yards and one TD on only seven carries.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Lone Oak was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 251 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Winona only rushed for 56 rushing yards.

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Lone Oak's defense and their three sacks. Kallan Patterson refused to say out of the backfield, picking up 1.5 sacks all by himself. Lone Oak got some further help from Patterson: he picked up 1.5 sacks, forced three fumbles, and made five total tackles (2.0 for loss).

Despite the loss, Winona still got an impressive performance from Easton Smotherman, who rushed for 32 yards and one touchdown, and also threw for 165 yards on ten of 19 attempts.

Lone Oak has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 36.5 points this season. As for Winona, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.

Coming up, Lone Oak will be playing in front of their home fans against Big Sandy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Winona, they will hit the road for the first time this season to face off against Hawkins at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
