The Richmond Oilers fell victim to the Vallejo Redhawks''s stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They had to suffer through a rough 49-0 loss at the hands of the Redhawks. Richmond just can't catch a break and has now endured seven losses in a row.
Vallejo can attribute much of their success to Sedrick Vaughn, who picked up 79 receiving yards and two touchdowns, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Vaughn was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 50 yards. Keisean Johnson made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.
Richmond's defeat was their eighth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 1-8. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 2.5 points per game. As for Vallejo, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season.
Richmond does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Vallejo will be playing at home against Del Norte at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Del Norte comes in on five and Vallejo on four.
