The Sickles Gryphons will head out to challenge the Clearwater Tornadoes at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Sickles is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.5 runs per game this season.
On Tuesday, Sickles made easy work of Freedom and carried off a 16-1 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Gryphons.
Taylor Morrissey was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Morrissey was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
In other pitching news, Lauren Larsen looked comfortable as she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two hits any time she's pitched this season.
Back at the plate, Sickles got a big performance out of Kalyssa Austin, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases and two runs. Addison Masotti was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.
Sickles was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .517. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Monday just wasn't the day for Clearwater's offense. They came up short against Mitchell on Monday, falling 12-0.
The victory got Sickles back to even at 3-3. As for Clearwater, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-8 record this season.
Clearwater's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Sickles hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .378. It's a different story for Clearwater, though, as they've only averaged .234. Will they be able to contain Sickles' hitters?
Sickles suffered a grim 10-4 defeat to Clearwater in their previous meeting back in March of 2025. Can the Gryphons avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
