Haverling has gone a perfect 10-0 against Hornell recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Rams will hit the road for the first time this season to take on the Red Raiders at 4:30 p.m. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Haverling is headed out to face Hornell after opening their season at home and giving their fans just what they were looking for. The Rams never let Pavilion get on the board and left with a 7-0 victory back in March.
The team relied heavily on Caydence Spears, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run. Another player making a difference was Lola Coots, who went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Hornell). They put the hurt on Whitman with a sharp 18-3 win on Tuesday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Red Raiders needed considering they were shut out in their previous matchup.
Alexis Smith made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with four runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. She also put up a double, which was her first of the season.
In other batting news, Raegan Evingham was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with four stolen bases, two triples, and five RBI. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Madyson Conner was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
Hornell always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .636. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Haverling took their victory against Hornell in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 10-4 score. Will the Rams repeat their success, or do the Red Raiders have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
