Basketball Recap: Boulder Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Boulder took a 26-point defeat the last time they faced off against Mountain Range, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Boulder Panthers skirted past the Mountain Range Mustangs 75-73. The win was nothing new for the Panthers as they're now sitting on three straight.

Boulder's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Lake Smith led the charge by going 9 of 21 on his way to 25 points and six boards. Smith has been hot, having posted 18 or more points the last six times he's played. Lewis Racine was another key player, going 5 for 8 to rack up 14 points and five assists.

Mountain Range's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Moses West, who dropped a double-double with 33 points and 11 rebounds. That's the most points West has posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Jeramiah Chavez, who went 8 of 15 en route to 20 points in addition to seven assists and four steals.

Boulder's victory bumped their record up to 11-8. As for Mountain Range, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-12.

Coming up, Boulder will challenge Riverdale Ridge at 6:30 p.m. on February 13th. As for Mountain Range, they will face off against Prairie View at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Mountain Range knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past eight contests -- so hopefully Prairie View likes a good challenge.
