The Midfield Patriots came tearing into Saturday's match with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 15.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They skirted past Fultondale 68-65. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Midfield got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Armonie Franklin out in front who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds. Franklin has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Brandon Riddle, who scored 16 points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Midfield has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season. As for Fultondale, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-7.
Midfield's road trip will continue as they head out to face Shades Valley at 5:30 p.m. on January 15th. That game will pit two of the most dominant players against one another: Jeremy Chatman and Franklin. As for Fultondale, they will be playing at home against Oak Grove at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Oak Grove has now lost eight straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 4.
