Burbank put the finishing touches on their 13th blowout victory of the season on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Edison as Burbank made off with a 53-27 victory. Given Burbank's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 353rd, while Edison is ranked 1000th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Burbank to victory, but perhaps none more so than Olivia De la cruz, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 26 rebounds. De la cruz has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Makayla Carter, who scored 19 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Jefferson suffered their biggest defeat since December 1, 2023 on Tuesday. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 42-18 walloping at the hands of Lanier.
Burbank is on a roll lately: they've won 15 of their last 17 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 21-8 record this season. As for Jefferson, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost 17 of their last 18 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-23 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Burbank against Jefferson in their previous matchup back in December of 2023 as the team secured a 63-14 victory. With Burbank ahead 37-8 at the half, the match was all but over already.
