On Thursday, Corydon Central came up short against Meade County and fell 58-51. While losing is never fun, Corydon Central can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 109th in Indiana, while Meade County is ranked 14th in Kentucky).
Corydon Central lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Josie Vaughn, who scored 22 points. Vaughn scored a full 43.1% of Corydon Central's points, the tenth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaiden Cantrell, who scored 16 points along with seven rebounds.
Meade County's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Peyton Bradley, who scored 26 points. The match was Bradley's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Paige Medley, who scored 19 points.
This is the second loss in a row for Corydon Central and nudges their season record down to 7-5. As for Meade County, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 5-1.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Corydon Central will face off against Charlestown at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Meade County, they will head out on the road to face off against Corbin at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Corbin is on a three-game streak of home wins, Meade County a three-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
