The Douglas County West Falcon waltzed into their matchup on Saturday with ten straight wins but they left with 11. They walked away with a 57-48 victory over Conestoga. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Douglas County West also won the last time the pair played back in February of 2023.
Douglas County West's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Drake Travis, who scored 15 points along with three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Cam Wiese, who scored 11 points along with six assists.
Despite the defeat, Conestoga saw an underclassman step up: Owen Trofholz almost dropped a double-double on 26 points and nine rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Trofholz has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Zachariah Smith, who scored nine points along with eight rebounds.
Douglas County West's win bumped their record up to 16-1. As for Conestoga, their loss dropped their record down to 12-2.
Douglas County West will be playing in front of their home fans against the Rockets at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Syracuse will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Nebraska Rankings (they are ranked 134th, while the Falcon are ranked 18th). As for Conestoga, they will head out on the road to take on the Mustangs at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing isn't great for Raymond Central: they have been struggling with four straight losses at home, while the Cougars have snatched up five consecutive wins on the road.
