AA Region 8 recap Oct. 16, 2012
Jefferson extended the longest winning streak in AA Region 8 this week by beating Rabun County, 55-7. The victory was the fifth in a row for the Dragons.
Jefferson moved up to 64 from 132 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Dragons were able to make the jump by besting the Wildcats 55-7.
Riverside Military Academy's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Adrian Humphrey threw for 69 yards and Justin Sweeting had 89 yards receiving. On the ground Humphrey chipped in 127 yards. JeJuan McCalston helped Riverside Military Academy's passing attack out by catching one ball for four yards.
Rabun County's Wes Holcombe and Charlie Woerner have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Holcombe has thrown for 1019 yards this season, while Woerner has 18 catches for 446 yards. Kendrick Presley from Oglethorpe County leads the league in rushing with 579 yards.
A big matchup in AA Region 8 this week will be when Lee Shaw's team takes on Washington-Wilkes. The Wildcats are currently in fifth, while the Tigers are in first.
Washington-Wilkes took down Greene County 48-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
