It was a good run, but the Westside Seminoles unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Thursday. The matchup between them and Spalding wasn't particularly close, with Westside falling 55-39. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Westside has scored all season.
Westside lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Chauncey Williams, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 16 rebounds. Williams has been hot recently, having posted nine or more rebounds the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Cam Rembert, who scored eight points.
Spalding's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Cedric Evans led the charge by scoring 17 points along with eight rebounds and two blocks. Evans is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last five games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Bahji Daniel, who scored 13 points along with three steals.
Westside's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 15-7. As for Spalding, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 13-9 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Westside will square off against the Huskies at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Howard will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings (they are ranked 390th, while the Seminoles are ranked 177th). As for Spalding, they will head out on the road to face off against the Panthers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
