It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Hutto Hippos can now relate to. They took a serious blow against the Panthers and Pantherettes on Monday, falling 100-35. While losing is never fun, Hutto can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 478th, while Duncanville is ranked first).
Duncanville's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Mariah Clayton led the charge by scoring 16 points along with eight steals and five assists. Clayton has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last six times she's played. Chloe Mann was another key contributor, scoring 21 points along with five assists and three steals.
Hutto's loss dropped their record down to 15-20. As for Duncanville, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 29-4.
Hutto does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Duncanville's road trip will continue as they head out to face Rockwall on February 15th. Duncanville knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past seven contests -- so hopefully Rockwall likes a good challenge.
